Don’t waste time scraping windscreen or throw away cash on a de-icer – prevent frost for good with my favourite £5 find

DRIVERS spend hours scraping their iced-up windows as the weather gets colder.

But a motors whizz has discovered a genius £5 find to prevent frost for good.

User Kolquest took to TikTok to share a money-saving hack to get rid of the dreaded ice for good.

On the video the content creator said: “Hack to defrost, don;t waste time doing scraping or hot water or de-icer.

“Beat the frost night before but this windshield on.”

All you need is a windscreen frost protector – which you can snap up for £5 at Halfords.

Drivers can simply cover the outside of their windscreen and put the edges of the material inside the car door to fix it in place.

The Tiktoker added: “All I used was plastic straws and tape to keep it in shape and jamped the flaps in the doors.

Next morning see the results, way too easy.”

Footage shows the car completely clean of ice the next morning.

The video has already amassed hundreds of views and more than 350 likes from fellow savvy drivers.

But if what you struggle with is foggy windscreens, a “super fast” gadget from Argos can keep the ice away on a winter day.

Argos is selling a Streetwize 12V In-Car Auto Heater/Defroster with LED Light.

The genius gadget warms up the interior of your vehicle almost “instantly” – without having to wait the long-dreaded minutes to fully heat up.

Meanwhile, motors experts revealed a cheaper way to defog your car with items already in your kitchen.

All you need is a lemon – which you can buy for only 30p from Sainsbury’s.

Car pros at LeaseCar.uk said: “The citric acid in lemons can help break down the ice barrier.

“Squeeze the juice onto the windshield, then rinse it off with lukewarm water and wipe off the shards with the lemon itself.”

You can also add some baking powder to the mix to avoid foggy windscreen for longer.
