Doctor issues ‘eargasms’ warning triggered by little known ‘happy button’ in your ear

HAVE your ever experienced a peculiarly pleasureful feeling when cleaning your ears out with a cotton bud?

If this happens, you’re actually experiencing an ‘eargasm’, a doctor has said.

According to TikTok’s favourite NHS surgeon Dr Karan Rajan, sticking things down your ears can stimulate the vagus nerve for some people and even cause an ‘ear boner’.

But he pleaded with eargasm seekers not to use cotton buds to trigger this unusual sensation.

In a recent video, Dr Rajan responded to a TikTok user who said: “If I’m not supposed to put cotton swabs in my ears, then why did evolution put a happy button in there?”

According to the surgeon, this ‘happy button’ in your ears is actually a ‘glitch’.

While some people get the automatic urge to cough when sticking something like a cotton bud in their ear, a lucky few experience what he termed an eargasm.

This is because “a branch of the vagus nerve, which carries information about touch and sensation, extends into the ear,” Dr Rajan explained.

If you’re one of the people who get a cough glitch when cleaning out your ears, the sensation of a cotton bud in your ear leads your brain to think there’s something in your throat so “triggers a cough to clear the threat”, according to the surgeon.

The reverse can happen too, as irritation in your throat can lead to a sore ear.

According to Dr Rajan, “a lucky few get eargasms”.

For these people, stimulating the vagus nerve “leads to a parasympathetic response and a calming effect”, similar to the other sort of orgasms you might be used to experiencing.

As a result, ears can be erogenous zones for many.

Not only that, your ears also have erectile tissue which can ‘engorge’ when stimulated – Dr Rajan described this reaction as ‘ear boners’.

Its not just cotton buds that can get your ears feeling good.

Touch can simulate the tissue, as can music and even humming.

In fact, Dr Rajan suggested you opt for this less invasive methods if you’re in pursuit on an eargasm.

“If you want to get freaky with your ears, please do – just leave the q-tips out of it,” he pleaded.

Health experts have long warned against sticking the implements in your ear, as they can push the ear wax further into your ears instead of clearing it out and you risk rupturing an ear drum.

You might experience sudden hearing lossearache, or even fluid leaking from your ear, or you might also get a nasty ear infection.

Handily enough, your ears are actually self cleaning.
