Distraught fans demand Nestle reconsider axing iconic chocolate bar Caramac – and vow to buy more

CARAMAC fans were choked after makers Nestle announced the end of the caramel-flavoured bar.

The food giant blamed falling sales for the decision to chop the 75p treat, easily recognisable due to its bright red and yellow wrapper.

Nestle confirms it is scrapping the Caramac chocolate bar after 60 years

One social media user on X, formerly Twitter, lamented: “Say it ain’t so!”

Another waxed: “Every day, it seems civilisation is being dismantled brick by brick. All we have known, all we live for and that is precious, is evaporating into the cold autumn air. Caramac is to be no more.”

A third sent “#IStandWithCaramac” to Nestle’s X account and promised to buy more. They pleaded: “Just don’t cancel Caramac.”

The bar was launched in 1959 and named by combining makers Mackintosh’s with caramel.

It contains no cocoa, getting its light brown colour from sweetened condensed milk, butter and sugar.

Nestle, which also makes Kit-Kats, said: “We are very sorry to disappoint fans of Caramac. We had to make the difficult decision.”

Last month Mars said it would axe its dark chocolate Bounty bars.

Broadcaster and Sun columnist Piers Morgan posted: “This will cause immeasurable harm to my mental health. Please reconsider.”
