However, fans have urged him to hand in a transfer request after a song commemorating his arrival was released by Arsenal fan channel AFTV.

The channel remains contentious for the Gunners, with some fans arguing it caused a fracture in the fanbase while the club struggled on the pitch.

Regardless, the channel has a huge following of 822,000 followers on Twitter and 1.56m subscribers on YouTube.

But fans were left unimpressed by the channel’s latest video; a song celebrating the arrival of Rice with a remixed version of Vanilla Ice’s 1990 hit Ice Ice Baby.

Reacting to the song on Twitter, one fan declared: “Fold the club this is a shambles.”

A second said: “If I was Declan Rice, I’d already be handing in a transfer request..”

A third reacted: “Rice be handing in a transfer request before the 1st game of the season! State of this! Not even in time.”

“Delete this. ASAP,” demanded a fourth.

Meanwhile, AFTV did seem to see the funny side too, posting: “We apologise in advance for the memes this will create x.”

Rice is the third signing for Mikel Arteta this window, following yesterday’s announcement of Jurrien Timber and the June signing of Kai Havertz.
