‘Daily visit out the window’ scream sausage roll fans as favourite bakery announces weeks-long town centre store closure

SAUSAGE roll fanatics are distraught after a beloved bakery announces its temporary closure.

The spot is known for being the home of sandwiches, pasties and vegan sausage rolls – but shoppers will now have to look elsewhere for their savoury snacks.

Locals have flocked to Facebook to share their reactions to the news with one person now having to alter their routine.

One commentor tagged a friend and wrote: “That’s your daily visit out the window now.”

While another said: “Oh No !!…how are we expected to survive.”

However a third wasn’t fazed sharing: “Don’t care, very expensive now for doughnuts or sausage rolls, better off going to a more upmarket cafe.”

Greggs in in High Street, Cheltenham, is set to shut on March 16 for refurbishment.

It will welcome customers back on Friday, April 26 six weeks later.

It comes as shoppers were left gutted after Marks and Spencer announced that it will close one of its branches for good.

The posh shop has 405 stores across the country and is a staple of the high street.

Last year, M&S revealed that it would permanently shut ten stores and relocate more shops.

It’s part of the retailer’s plans to create more flagship M&S stores and food halls across the UK.

M&S is now set to close its home shop in Kingsditch Trading Estate in Tewkesbury Road, Cheltenham, in April.

And shoppers have been left crying the “high street is dying” as a coffee chain gears up to close a branch inside an iconic department store.

Cavendish House, which opened over 200 years ago, is set to welcome in customers for the final time in mid-April.

It will see the House of Fraser department store and Clarins Spa inside it close down permanently.

News the House of Fraser branch is shutting has already been met with devastation from local shoppers.

One branded the closure a “great shame” while another said it signified the “high street is dying”.

But Cavendish House shuttering its doors also means the Caffè Nero, inside the House of Fraser department store, will also close for good.
