Dad shares hilarious Elf on the Shelf fail which leaves son traumatised but he can’t stop giggling

IT can be difficult to think of hilarious situations for the Elf on the Shelf to get involved in every day.

But one dad thought he’d created the perfect one for his son, after coming up with the idea to use their ceiling fan, and documented the results in a video on TiKTok.

A dad accidentally left his son traumatised when his Elf on the Shelf prank went horribly wrongTikTok/alexsparents

After putting artificial snow on the ceiling fan, he left a note from the elf instructing his son to turn it onTikTok/alexsparents

Things started to go wrong when the fan picked up speed and the elf crashed into a house plant in the cornerTikTok/alexsparents

As the elf crashed into the tree again, it toppled over – while Alex burst into tearsTikTok/alexsparents

After carefully placing artificial snow on each of the fan’s prongs, he attached the elf underneath on a makeshift swing.

He then left a note out for his son, which read: “Alex, turn me on for a show! Snowflake.”

After struggling to decipher the note, Alex then dutifully obliged, pressing the remote control to turn on the fan.

However, it quickly dawned on the dad that the setup was a fail, as the snow didn’t scatter down from the fan as he’d intended.

In addition, the elf kept slamming into a houseplant in the corner – eventually knocking it over.

As the chaos unfolded, Alex’s smile turned upside down, and his tears began.

But his dad still thought the situation was more than a little funny, as he could be heard giggling in the background.

“Was supposed to be a magical morning with snowflakes gently falling from the fan and Elf enjoying the ride,” he captioned the video.

“Elf is currently in the ER recovering and Alex is traumatised forever.”

People were quick to take to the comments section to admit the video had left them in hysterics, with one writing: “The way it just gets worse and worse, I’m crying!!!”

“As soon as the elf hit the tree I knew it was only a matter of time,” another added.

“Why did I laugh so hard?” someone else questioned.

“I’m dying….The effort & the fail…it’s too much…” another laughed.

While someone else agreed, writing: “LMFAOOOOOOO OMFG I’ve never laughed so hard I think I peed a little.”

However, another comment urged the dad to look on the bright side, writing: “This is a win!

“Now you get to send him to the North Pole for 3 days to get fixed lol.”
