The Hardest Way to Make an Easy Living was the third studio album by The StreetsSWNS

This Rolls-Royce was previously featured on the cover of The Streets’ album ‘The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living’.

Owned by frontman Mike Skinner at the time, the idea was to take the prestige motor on tour with the group, but reports suggested the car was sidelined as the planned sound system would not fit.

Originally painted in Caribbean Aqua, it was during Skinner’s ownership that the Silver Shadow was repainted in gloss black.

Other upgrades included eye-catching 22-inch wheels and a twin-pipe central exit exhaust.

The interior was completely stripped and then fitted with the front seats from a Porsche 928, a custom pair of rear seats designed to match, and fully reupholstered in tan leather.

As buyers would imagine, the sound system was also upgraded, with a Pioneer CD stereo head unit, Alpine screens in the back of the front seat headrests, and additional speakers.

Collecting cars, who handled the auction, explained: “This Rolls-Royce was treated to a full respray in 2018 in the same gloss black previously chosen by Skinner.

“In 2022, the seller commissioned some repairs and repainting to the underside of the car and the wheel trims.

“Inside, the tan leather shows signs of use but no significant wear or discolouration. The seat covers appear to be in very good order, as shown, and the rest of the custom trim has held up well with age.

“The online MOT test record also shows that the car has covered just 2,084 miles in the last 16 years.”

This comes after a retro Ford Escort Mexico tribute was up for sale at auction.

Plus, a man who bought a Tesla Model 3 claims there’re so many cons to owning an EV that he’s returning to a petrol car.
