Pucovski took to the crease for his second ball but it ended in disaster.

He accidentally ducked into Riley Meredith’s delivery as he tried to get out the way of the bowl.

The ball smashed into the side of his helmet and Pucovski fell to the floor.

Players and medics rushed over to him so he could receive treatment.

Pucovski was on the deck for several minutes and was seen violently coughing.

The 26-year-old was eventually helped up but looked unsteady on his feet.

In a statement, Victoria said: “Will is currently in the hands of our medical professionals. We’ll look to provide an update in due course.”

He was replaced by back-up batter Campbell Kellaway.
