WILD Napoli fans dug up a football pitch and tried to nab a player’s shorts after witnessing their team win a first Serie A title in 33 years.

Thousands of supporters made the journey over 500 miles north to watch their side make history.

Their big night didn’t get off to a perfect start, with Sandi Lovric handing Udinese a 13th minute lead.

But Serie A top scorer Victor Osimhen grabbed an equaliser in the 52nd minute to get Napoli over the line.

Upon the final whistle, hordes of Napoli fans invaded the pitch at Stadio Friuli.

Emotional supporters were seen grabbing clumps of turf and bagging them up as a memento of the monumental occasion.

While others even grabbed their heroes’ shorts – with midfielder Piotr Zielinski spotted stripped down to his pants.

Fans determinedly tried to also get Zielinski’s shirt, although the Polish star managed to keep hold of it as he finally left the field.

Back in Naples, the party was only just getting started.

Fans packed out the streets, with the night sky illuminated by fireworks commemorating their city’s achievement.

Supporters decked themselves out in club clobber as they congregated around the Royal Palace of Naples.

The building was lit up in Napoli colours, with some fans donning Diego Maradona shirts in homage to their late, great hero – who inspired them to their last title in 1990.

Napoli’s next match will see them return home victorious as champions.

They host Fiorentina at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Sunday, with the coming weeks set to be one big party for the Naples faithful.
