Conor McGregor puts son Conor Jr, six, through gruelling boxing workout as he ramps up training for UFC return

CONOR MCGREGOR is ramping up preparations for his return to the UFC – but that’s not stopping him from training his son, Conor Jr.

The MMA superstar appears to be in the midst of a gruelling training camp for his eagerly-anticipated comeback fight against Michael Chandler.

McGregor was recently in Cannes for a warm training getaway but has since returned to Dublin – where he’s splitting his time between Straight Blast Gym and Crumlin Boxing Gym.

The Notorious is no stranger to bringing his kids – in particular Conor Jr – to watch him work in the gym.

Conor Jr was present for his old man’s recent session at his boyhood boxing gym and ended up being put through his paces.

McGregor, 35, shared snaps of Conor Jr avoiding precision foam sticks and drilling the punch shield with his 47 million Instagram followers on Tuesday.

And the six-year-old – who was donning his own custom-made gloves – showed surprisingly good technique as his father held the pad.

McGregor’s accompanying caption for the post read: “Young shots, @ConorMcGregorJr.”

The Irishman‘s legion of followers were quick to comment, with one saying: “Future champ in the making.”

Another said: “The future of Ireland.”

And another said: “The takeover PT 2.”

One remarked: “It’s going to be biblical seeing Conor Jr in the UFC, with Conor senior in his corner.

“Long live the McGregor clan.”

Another chimed in: “Kid won’t be bullied that’s for sure.”

UFC welterweight Ian Garry – who recently sparred with the UFC’s poster boy – chimed in: “WOW!

“This is everything and the photos are just amazing. Just wow.”

Unlike his old man, Conor Jr won’t be forced to fight in order to provide a better life for himself.

But McGregor plans to school his namesake in all facets of mixed martial arts, saying two years ago: “He will certainly be skilled as a fighter.

“He’s already skilled as a fighter. He’s got phenomenal power and kicks.

“He’s going through all the disciplines and he’s loving them.

“It’s not like I’m trying to put them on to him.

“As time goes on will he want to compete? I’m not sure but he certainly will be skilled to do so.”

McGregor hasn’t set foot inside the octagon since breaking his leg in his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier two years ago.

The UFC had hoped to have their poster boy headline their final pay-per-view card of the year on December 16.

But UFC president and newly-minted CEO Dana White recently revealed Mystic Mac’s return will likely take place “early next year”.
