Conor McGregor fans loving throwback fashion choice that echoes most famous one-liner on The Ultimate Fighter

CONOR McGREGOR fans noticed an obvious Easter egg in his latest Instagram post that harked back to his first run on The Ultimate Fighter.

The Notorious made it fairly obvious when sharing several shots of his tailored attire while strolling around the Las Vegas set.

During his 2015 stint on the show, one of many memorable verbal sparring matches between himself and rival coach Urijah Faber centred on him wearing a pair just like these.

When McGregor started to brag about them, the California Kid mocked the Dubliner’s pronunciation by repeating back to him ‘Oh they’re py-ton are they? Sounds like…sounds like something…’

But as quick-witted with his comebacks as he is with his punches, the rising star interjected ‘Sounds like something your bum ass could never afford!’

It was one of many instances where the Crumlin native one-upped the wrestler although they clearly became quite good friends over the course of the season and have remained on friendly terms since.

Flash-forward eight years and fans are hoping McGregor leaves Faber’s compatriot Michael Chandler similarly bamboozled in any slagging matches they engage in.

One of the top comments on the post reflected that widely-shared view as one person wrote: “He brought back the Python shoes .”

As for when the former two-weight UFC champ and Chandler will actually engage in the octagon, uncertainty still abounds over an exact fight date.

The latest season of the reality show is due to air from May 30 so anytime two months on from then would be in the frame in order to allow them sufficient time to have a full camp.

Chandler, 36, made his long-awaited UFC debut as the co-main on McGregor’s second bout with Poirier in January 2021.

Since that maiden victory against Dan Hooker he has gone 1-3 in the UFC, albeit fighting exclusively top-ranked guys.

He fell to Charles Oliveira while fighting for the title that had just been vacated by Khabib Nurmagomedov, before then losing a classic to Justin Gaethje at Madison Square Garden.

He returned to winning ways against Tony Ferguson last May, before losing another gruelling war with McGregor’s old rival Poirier in November, again at MSG.
