Clement Lenglet lined up for Premier League transfer return with Tottenham’s rivals after loan spell

ASTON VILLA are in talks with Barcelona over a move for Clement Lenglet.

The French international centre-back, 28, played 35 games for Tottenham last season but the club opted against a permanent deal.

Boss Unai Emery is now trying to bring Lenglet back to the Prem with fellow left-footer Tyrone Mings facing the entire season out with a knee injury.

A loan deal looks more likely but a permanent move is a possibility.

Villa’s sporting director Monchi signed Lenglet at Sevilla for around £4million from Nancy then sold him to Barcelona for £30m.

Meanwhile, Tottenham right-back Djed Spence is set to join Leeds on loan for the season.

The Whites will pay Spurs around £1million for the defender, 23, who moved from Middlesbrough in 2022.

Spence has played just four Prem games for Tottenham, spending last season on loan at Rennes in France, and is not part of boss Ange Postecoglou’s plans.

But Leeds were dealt a major blow when Amiri, 26, rejected a move to Elland Road from Bayer Leverkusen after a £5m deal and personal terms were agreed.

The German international was spotted by fans walking around the city on Monday, and he had also visited United’s training base after flying to Yorkshire on a private jet.

Desperate for midfield reinforcements, boss Daniel Farke is trying to raid former club Norwich for Kenny McLean but the Canaries have rejected a £4m offer.

Farke fancies Ranger’s Glen Kamara and Celtic’s Matt O’Riley too and is also working on a loan for Leicester left-back Luke Thomas.
