Classic Ford RS in stunning condition is up for sale for an eye-watering amount

An iconic Ford RS200 model in immaculate condition is up for sale at auction for £250k.

The 1986 RS200 has only covered 8,442 miles from new and comes with a huge history file to back up its time warp looks.

The RS200 is dramatic to look at from any angle

Red bucket seats stand out in the rather sombre cabin

Developed as a basis for Ford‘s Group B rally car, the legendary road-going RS was a truly wild motor with 246bhp and enough shove to keep things really interesting.

It’s definitely a car that’s meant to be driven hard, so you get few creature comforts in the cabin.

The deep red bucket seats, fire extinguisher and an array of dials make it clear that this motor has true racing heritage.

Silverstone auctions, who are handling the sale, have described this particular model as a real ‘pride and joy’ example of these very rare ‘rally cars for the road.’

Originally owned by the director of the RS200 Owners Club, it was purchased in 1990 by its current owner with the odometer showing just 152 miles.

The car had a comprehensive restoration in 2014 – carried out by the company that built the fibreglass tubs back in the 80s.

Priced at £50k when new, this RS200 is expected to make at least 5 times its showroom sticker price when it goes under the hammer.

The guide price is listed as £240k to £280k, although with demand expected to be strong it could well go for more.

Silverstone auctions sums up the racy motor as: “a stunning low-mileage RS200 in Diamond White that is a must for any collection of Performance Fords.”
