Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have secretly welcomed another baby, just five months after Teigen gave birth to their daughter Esti.
The couple announced the arrival of son Wren Alexander Stephens via social media on Wednesday (3.30am Thursday AEST), sharing the story behind his arrival via a surrogate following the loss of their son, Jack, due to pregnancy complications in 2021.
“For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted four children,” Teigen began the emotional post, telling fans she’d always played with four dolls as a little girl.

The TV personality also told the story of meeting surrogate Alexandra, whom the bub is named after.
“Just minutes before midnight on June 19th, I got to witness the most beautiful woman, my friend, our surrogate, give birth amidst a bit of chaos, but with strength and pure joy and love,” Teigen wrote.

Teigen shared photos kissing Alexandra’s belly, shots of their newborn son, and recounted the story of his birth – referencing her family’s joy over the birth of Esti while continuing to heal from experiencing pregnancy loss in 2020.
“After losing Jack, I didn’t think I’d be able to carry any more babies on my own,” she said, adding “during that time … one clear memory is being surrounded by people who wanted to make sure I wouldn’t go through that pain and loss again.”

Teigen wrote that in 2021, they decided to connect with a surrogacy agency in a bid to expand their family, asking about “perhaps having two tandem surrogates, to each bring us a healthy baby boy or girl. Twins, kinda?!”
“At some point, early in our surrogacy journey, I came out of a therapy session, walked downstairs and said to John – I want to try to carry just one more time,” she said.
“If it doesn’t work, we will be okay. We’ve already seen the worst.”
She said she “promised I would be okay no matter what happened. I remember saying I just couldn’t go on wondering my whole life if I should have tried again”.
The couple began the IVF process, which they used to conceive all five children, including Esti, who was born in January.
“As we crept toward the safe zone of my own pregnancy, we were overjoyed to learn Alexandra had become pregnant with a little boy. Our little boy,” Teigen wrote.

Legend also shared the news in a post to Instagram, sharing a shot surrounded by Luna, seven; Miles, five; Esti, six months; and their newborn.
“Wren Alexander Stephens, our new love,” he captioned the post.
Teigen, who wrote an essay in 2020 about her experience with losing their son Jack, added a note to him in closing her emotional message.
“Our hearts, and our home, are officially full,” Teigen wrote, adding: “And to our Jack, we know both their angel kisses are from you.”
