‘Chicharito, it’s your old boss here’ – Sir Alex Ferguson’ message to ex-Man Utd ace Hernandez after emotional transfer

SIR ALEX FERGUSON paid tribute to ex-Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez after the Mexican completed a return to boyhood club Chivas.

‘Chicharito’ – a cult hero during his six seasons at Old Trafford – was unveiled by the Liga MX outfit on Wednesday where he received a rapturous welcome.

Sir Alex, who signed the 35-year-old from Chivas in 2010, said in a video message: “Chicharito, it’s your old boss here.

“First of all I want to congratulate you on your return to your old club, back to Mexico where it all started where I found you, signed you and you were a great, fantastic player for us.

“You’ve had a great career and I think now you’ve an opportunity at your old club to add your experience and give your experience to all the players there.

“So regards to your family, have a great family and more goals to come.”

Hernandez, who won two Premier League titles and 109 caps for Mexico, responded to Ferguson’s message on his own X account.

He said: “Boss, there’s no words to describe how much you mean to me.

“Been able to say I was one of your players is one of my biggest achievements. THANK YOU! And to my other family.

“Thank you for letting me be part of your history. Will love you forever. Once a red always a red.”

Hernandez scored 59 goals in 157 matches for Man Utd, leaving in 2015 for Bayer Leverkusen after a loan spell with Real Madrid.

He went on to feature for West Ham and Sevilla, before making the move to MLS side LA Galaxy in 2020.

He spent three years playing in America – scoring 39 times in 82 games – and has now returned to Mexico.

Hernandez clearly still has huge admiration for Sir AlexRex
