THE punters were back at Cheltenham on Friday – and they felt they had already bagged a winner before the first race.
The world-famous course is notorious for serving the most-expensive pint of Guinness at any track in Britain.

A pint of the good stuff cost £6 back in 2020 – but now it is 25 per cent more expensive.
Furious racegoers hit out at last year’s seasonal curtain-raiser after the price was upped by 50p.
That meant that it cost punters a whopping £7.50 per pint of Guinness.
There were fears once again ahead of today that the price may rise yet again.
But punters were left rejoicing that it remained unchanged as they returned to the home of jump racing.
Andrew Temperton, from Shropshire, told the Racing Post: “We were talking about the prices on the way down, how they’ve gone up at other courses, but it’s good it’s stayed the same.
“There was talk about it being cheaper here at the snooker too but it’s good.
“I’m thrilled to be back at Cheltenham, the sun’s out and I’m looking forward to it.

“We’re starting again, it’s a new season and I can’t wait. I’ll catch up with some old friends and it should be a good day.”
Harry Jones, from Gloucester, added: “It’s great to be back, I like this meeting as it’s not as busy as the festival and you usually get a few good horses to follow for the rest of the season.
“I was surprised the Guinness hadn’t gone up – everything seems to be costing more at the moment. It’s expensive to go out now.”
However, as the news spread on social media, not everybody was as delighted.
One horse racing fan said: “£7.50 is still £1 above where it should be based on the current market.
“I live in Central London, and that’s well above what you pay in the nicer pubs here. It’s even more than they were charging at the likes of Glastonbury and other major sporting events in the summer.”
“‘Bagged a winner’ said absolutely nobody,” wrote another punter.
A fellow fan commented that people were being “fleeced” as another wrote: “£7.50 a winner? Pull the other one.”
