A disclaimer on the club website read: “Fans should be aware that the 2023-24 home kit that features on pitch may subsequently feature a front-of-shirt partner.”
Chelsea banked £40m-a-year from previous sponsors Three.
And they had hoped to rake in £60m-a-year from their new partners.
However, Premier League bosses told them that such a contract would be in breech of the competition’s Deed of License.
And following failed attempts to reach an agreement with streaming service Paramount+ and gambling firm Stake, the Blues have now significantly lowered their asking price.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are looking for just £25m for a shirt sponsor.
They are also willing to include their women’s team as part of the package.
With the start of the season edging closer, the Blues have enlisted the services of Creative Artists Agency to help with the search.
