Chelsea fans in awe of Mykhaylo Mudryk’s ‘Messi-vision’ pass for Ukraine U21s in Euros quarter-final win over France

CHELSEA fans are expecting big things from Mykhaylo Mudryk after he produced a “ Lionel Messi-vision” pass to help Ukraine beat France and reach the U21 Euros semi-final.

The £97million winger arrived at the signed for the Blues in January after they beat Arsenal to his signature.

The 22-year-old has only shown brief glimpses of his promise at Stamford Bridge so far and is yet to score for the Premier League club.

But Mudryk will be looking to hit the ground running under new boss Mauricio Pochettino, who officially started work today at Cobham, and he already seems to have rediscovered his confidence.

He was hailed as a “future Ballon d’Or winner” after his two stunning assists sparked a 3-2 comeback win for Ukraine last month against North Macedonia.

Despite being a senior international, he has dropped back down to U21 level for this month’s European Championship and now he and his team-mates are only two wins away from glory.

And Mudryk was in sensational form as they beat France 3-1 on Sunday.

The ex-Shakhtar Donetsk star won a 30th-minute penalty that Heorhii Sudakov converted from the spot to cancel out Rayan Cherki’s opener.

And then Ukraine took the lead shortly before half-time thanks to a moment of magic from Mudryk as he brilliantly picked out Sudakov with a magnificent pass from inside his own half.

A further goal from Artem Bondarenko sealed the victory and semi showdown with Spain on Wednesday.

But it was his assist that had most of the Chelsea faithful talking.

A fellow fan wrote: “He’s going to cook next season great pass from him. That was incredibly tremendous.”

As the footage continued to be shared, the excitement continued to build as another fan declared: “Just needs momentum. It’ll start clicking at some point.”

“Mudryk might actually ball out next season,” wrote another.

As a fellow fan added: “Mudryk 23/24 player of the season we will be there.”
