ROMELU LUKAKU is heading for Roma on a huge pay cut after Chelsea reportedly agreed a loan deal for the outcast striker.
The Belgian, 30, appears set for a third stint under Jose Mourinho after not even being given a shirt number at Stamford bridge.
Romelu Lukaku is poised to return to Italy, but with Roma not InterRex
TalkSPORT say Chelsea have accepted a £5million loan offer from Mourinho’s Roma.
And in turn Lukaku is understood to have agreed slashing his yearly wage from £17m to £7m.
According to The Telegraph’s Matt Law, that reduction is not just for his season at Roma – but also for the further two years remaining in his Chelsea contract.
And the Blues are said to have inserted a £37m release clause into his loan move.
That means the ex-Manchester United star could move on permanently next summer for not much more than a third of the £97.5m Chelsea paid Inter Milan for him in 2021.
Inter and Juventus were both linked with Lukaku earlier this summer – before their interest faded
And despite mixed fortunes in the past under Mourinho with Chelsea and United, it appears he will try again with the Portuguese manager at Roma.
Lukaku even told reporters over the weekend that he was jetting out to join the Italians.
