Chelsea ace Jayden Wareham wanted by AFC Wimbledon on loan transfer after he struggles for game-time at Leyton Orient

CHELSEA kid Jayden Wareham is being lined up for a loan move to AFC Wimbledon.

The striker, 19, had been farmed out to Leyton Orient but Chelsea were not happy he was not getting enough first-team football so cancelled the deal early.

Wareham made only five appearances for Orient after finding it difficult to break into the League Two leaders’ side.

He scored twice on his Os debut in the 3-1 win over Sutton United in the Papa John’s Trophy.

Yet he had to wait until October to make his EFL debut, appearing as an 82nd-minute substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Newport County.

Wareham found it difficult to dislodge regulars Aaron Drinan and Charlie Kelman with Richie Wellens’ side flying high in League Two, and made just two league starts.

His last came in the 1-0 defeat to Northampton, where he struggled to make an impact.

If Wimbledon get a deal across the line Wareham could make a quick return to Brisbane Road, with the Wombles visiting E10 on February 4.

Chelsea signed Wareham almost two years ago after he burst onto the scene at National League side Woking aged just 17.

He scored two goals in 18 games for Woking and has since made 38 appearances for Chelsea youth sides.

In that time he has scored ten goals but a loan to Wimbledon should provide him with a better opportunity to showcase his talent at senior level.

The Wombles are 13th in League Two and visit Newport on Saturday.
