The World No2 was speaking after his straight-set last 16 win over Miomir Kecmanovic.

Alcaraz was asked by Jim Courier which players he liked watching on tele, with the Spaniard reeling off Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev.

However, Courier then confessed he was about to put Alcaraz on the spot with his next question.

He asked: “I’m going to put you on the spot though, what about WTA?”

The question seemed to leave Alcaraz flustered as he failed to provide a name from anyone on the WTA.

Instead, he answered: “I watch WTA as well. I mean, when I can obviously.

“When I turn the TV on if it’s WTA, ATP, whatever. I like to watch it obviously.”

Reacting to the viral clip, former world No7 Mardy Fish offered his theory that Alcaraz was dating someone on the WTA.

The American said on X, formerly known as Twitter: “My man has gotta be dating someone on WTA Tour…??”

A number of fans seem to agree with the hypothesis.

However, Alcaraz has recently said he is not in a relationship.

Tennis commentator Mark Petchey also criticised the rumour mill, arguing that Alcaraz did not mention a player’s name precisely because it would spark dating rumours.

Alcaraz has since been eliminated from the Aussie open after falling to a 3-1 defeat to Alexander Zverev.

World No1 Djokovic also saw his flawless semi-final record dismissed by Jannik Sinner in a 3-1 victory for the Italian earlier today.
