The two television networks are being mashed into one, in a joint venture from two massive broadcasters, BT Group and Warner Bros. Discovery.

The merger has been in the pipeline for quite a while and could mean more competition for the likes of Sky Sports and Dazn, especially as more users move towards single-subscription streaming platforms.

However, according to the Daily Mail, one of BT Sport’s major headline pundits looks set to jump ship.

They claim that Sky Sports “are set to swoop for Chris Sutton” over the coming weeks.

The 50-year-old began his footballing career with Norwich City before moving to Blackburn Rovers, where he went on to win the Premier League.

He went on to ensure a miserable spell at Chelsea but a switch to Celtic led to six trophy-laden years at Parkhead.

Sutton came back to the Premier League in 2006 and had stints at both Birmingham City and Aston Villa.

He then had a brief spell as Lincoln City manager where he kept the Imps in the Football League.

Since then he has impressed as both a pundit and commentator working for BT Sport.

He also performs the same job for BBC Sport and Radio 5 Live.

Now he is allegedly “expected to move broadcasters in time for the new season”.

This report states that Sutton will continue to work for BBC Radio 5 Live and looks most “likely to cover Scottish and English football for Sky”.
