BT is making a major change to its prices from today and sports fans won’t be happy.
The price of a BT Sport monthly pass has increased to £29.99.

The streaming service allows fans to watch sporting events including Premier League matches and the Champions Cup.
Previously, viewers were charged £25 a month for the membership, which can be cancelled anytime.
The increase of £4.99 kicked in today (February 17) and will affect anyone who takes out a pass from this date.
So, members who are currently subscribed under the £25 offer won’t see their bills go up until it comes to an end.
For customers who stream all year round, this means their bill will be increasing by just under £60 a year to £359.
BT Sport is not the only sports broadcaster increasing prices.
Sky’s streaming platform NOW is raising the monthly fee for its Sports Month Membership to £34.99.
It is currently £33.99, so this is an increase £1 a month, adding an extra £12 a year to bills.
Subscribers with the Boost add-on will also be hit with a price increase of £1.
It means any customers who subscribe to both face a £2 rise in total every month – or £24 a year.
The increases are set to take place this month, from February 28.
It comes as BT Mobile customers are also facing a bill rise.
BT, EE and Three are among the firms which have confirmed to The Sun they will put up bills by up to 14.4%.
Price rises will come into effect for millions of customers from the end of March.
This means that if you pay your bill on the 15th of every month for example, you’ll pay the new price from April 15.
Many broadband and mobile phone providers base their annual price increases on the rate of inflation plus an extra 3.9%.
The rate of inflation was announced last month as 10.5%, so bills will rise by 14.4%.
How can I save money on my BT Sport subscription?
If you’re looking to avoid the BT Sport price rise then you could consider only renewing the subscription in months that there is an event you want to watch.
Although, it’s worth bearing in mind that it could work still cost you a lot depending on how many events you want to see.
Currently, you can sign up for BT Sport for £10/month for a 24-month contract when added to BT Broadband.
This could be a savvy option if you already have Wi-Fi with BT.
How do I cancel my BT Sport monthly pass?
You can cancel your pass at any time, for free and with no strings attached.
Simply log into MyBT, find BT Sport Monthly Pass and choose “Cancel subscription”.
When you cancel, you can carry on watching BT Sport until your existing months viewing period expires.
You need to cancel your subscription the day before it’s due to renew at the latest. You can check when your subscription is due to renew in MyBT.
Although do bear in mind that when you cancel your pass you’ll lose access to the Discovery+ add-on currently available with all monthly subscriptions.
