Erik ten Hag’s side beat Chelsea 4-1 at Old Trafford to move six points clear of fifth-placed Liverpool with just one game remaining.
Fernandes, 28, converted from the penalty spot during the game, having been brought down in the box by Wesley Fofana.
The attacking midfielder had also struck the bar earlier in the match after being teed up by Jadon Sancho.
Following his goal-scoring exploits last night, Fernandes popped to Sainsbury’s to pick up some bits and pieces.
He grabbed a multi-pack of Highland Spring water, as well as a couple of bottles of Cravendale milk.
After last night’s match, Fernandes called being in the Champions League an “obligation” for United, after they missed out last term.
He said: “It’s not a relief. I think everyone was aware that it was really important for us to get the top four.
“I think at the same time everyone was really convinced that we will do it.

“We should have done it a little bit earlier in the season but obviously we had those two away games that we didn’t get any points and it complicated our counts, but we get it today and that’s the most important.
“It’s kind of an obligation for this club to be in these positions.”
Man United finish their Premier League season on Sunday with a home assignment against Fulham.
A win would seal third place, although a draw or a loss would open the door for Newcastle to pip them.
The Red Devils’ attention will then switch to the FA Cup final, when they take on rivals Manchester City under the Wembley arch on June 3.
