Newcastle followed Birmingham on the top trumps list at 27 per day, then Nottingham and Glasgow.
The fewest daily trumps came from those in Norwich at 14, then Bristol.
Brummie Alex Porrit, 36, is a fan of his frequent flatulence.
He said: “I’ve always had a tendency to let one off. It used to get a lot of laughs in school but now I work in an office, it’s not appreciated so much.”
The NHS insists trouser trumpets are normal, saying: “Everyone farts — some more than others.”
The British Society of Gastroenterology says 15 a day is the norm, but going up to 40 is fine.
However, medics say smelly gas can relate to an underlying issue and excessive farting should be taken seriously if it is not normal for you.
NHS guidance adds: “Do not self-diagnose. See a GP if you’re worried about your farting.”
The findings in the poll for Humanery come after poor diets and less activity in Covid led to millions suffering with trapped wind.
Nearly 40 per cent said they’ve been doing more farts since.
