Brexit has ‘created opportunities for Britain’, says Bank of England boss

BREXIT has “created opportunities for Britain” the Governor of the Bank of England has said.

Andrew Bailey said in a recent interview with Prospect magazine that the Bank’s job was “to be neutral” on Brexit.

However, the Governor said that Brexit “has actually created opportunities.

“I think we have protected, and in a sense ensured, that much of the market and much of the industry remains here.

“And that’s been important.”

Mr Bailey acknowledged that it was important for policy makers to protect financial stability because in the short term there were “negative effects” from reducing the “openness of an economy”.

He also warned that after the last few dramatic years there remained “further large shocks that we don’t know about”.
