Templegate’s day two Breeders’ Cup tips

6.30

CODY’S WISH won this last year and continues to be unbeaten in seven runs over this trip.

He comes here off a good victory at seven furlongs last time and he worked well earlier this week.

Zozos came back to form at Churchill Downs but is stepping up from a Grade 3 so needs more.

Charge It was brilliant at Belmont before two flat runs. Todd Pletcher will have him spot on for this.

Skippylongstocking is no forlorn hope coming from a shrewd yard.

7.10

INSPIRAL can maintain Europe’s brilliant record in this race. Six of the past ten have come back across the Atlantic and the Gosden star is looking for a Group 1 hat-trick.

She was as good as ever when winning the Sun Chariot at Newmarket last time and she has enough pace and class to cope with this drop in trip under Frankie.

Aidan O’Brien will be hoping for another win with Warm Heart who won the Yorkshire Oaks and Vermeille at Longchamp in photo finishes.

She should be well placed from stall two and looks the main danger.

In Italian was beaten just a length in this 12 months ago and went close in her usual prep race at Keeneland last time. She looks a major player again.

Fev Rover did well in the UK before moving to the States where she has won a couple of Group 1 contests. She needs to lift her form but could make the frame.

7.50

MATAREYA could be a value bet against the short-priced favourite.

Her past two runs have been quiet but this is her target and her workouts have been good this week. She likes this trip and won’t be far away.

Defending champ Goodnight Olive is the one to beat from stall one and she ran well when second in a hot contest at Saratoga latest.

Society has won well on her past two runs over this trip and clocked a big time latest. A repeat of that would give her every chance.

Clearly Unhinged is well drawn and was beaten a head on her last Grade 1 run. She is capable of better after just five outings.

8.30

SONGLINE has won her past three Group 1 contests and clocked good times in the process.

This is her best trip and hopefully her Japanese rider can get her in the right place as he’s the classiest horse in the race.

The draw has been unkind to Master Of The Seas who has run well on his two American starts.

Charlie Appleby won this last year and William Buick can steer him close if he gets the gaps.

Godolphin’s other runner is the 1000 Guineas winner Mawj who came back from a long break to dig deep and win a Keeneland Grade 1.

She takes on the boys for the first time but it is just two weeks since her last run.

Casa Creed took a hot contest at Saratoga and has a decent draw. He looks a solid each-way player.

Du Jour clocked a personal best at Del Mar and is another who could make the frame.

9.10

ADARE MANOR had five lengths in hand when scoring here last time and could be hard to catch from the front.

She has never been out of the first two at this track and can maintain that record.

Idiomatic has landed back-to-back Grade 1s with ease and is the clear danger over a trip that suits. She could end up a pretty short price though.

Clairiere has been below par on her past two but her best form would give her a chance. She’s had a break and has clocked good times on the workout track.

Randomized is improving with every run and could figure in this stronger company.

9.50

AUGUSTE RODIN handled Epsom well when winning the Derby so should be fine on this tricky track on fast ground.

He was last seen winning the Irish Champion Stakes and has had a nice break since that success.

Mostahdaf has the strongest form after his brilliant Prince Of Wales’s and Juddmonte International wins. However his best is over shorter which is the only slight concern.

King Of Steel was brave and strong when taking the Champion Stakes in the mud at Ascot but he had a hard race and could be drawn better.

He is a giant of a horse so this tight track may not suit.

However, with Frankie up, anything is possible!

French hope Onesto was less than two lengths away in the Arc at Longchamp and is a proven stayer. If he doesn’t get too far back, he can come late to pick up the pieces.

10.40

USHBA TESORIO was brilliant when winning the Dubai World Cup for tonight’s rider who was also on board when the colt won another big race last time.

He is unbeaten over this trip and on fast dirt. Enough said.

White Abarrio looks the main threat after an easy Grade 1 win at Saratoga. The step up in distance is the only slight concern but he should stay.

Bright Future is drawn out wide but he overcame that to win a hot race at this trip last time.

11.25

CARAVEL won this last year and went close in the same prep race at Keeneland last time out.

She usually flies from the stalls and has been aimed at this all season. There’s no reason why she won’t go close again.

Live In The Dream looks a big threat for Adam West. He made all when taking the Nunthorpe at York and will enjoy these quick conditions from a handy draw.

A repeat of that performance would pit him right in the mix.

Nobals could pick up the pieces if they go too fast up front.

He came late to win a valuable prize last time and has a good strike-rate over this distance. He’ll be finishing better than most.

Motorious has a tricky draw but that didn’t stop him when scooting in at Del Mar last month.

He has improved a lot since his handicapping days in the UK but this is his biggest test yet.

Arzak is another who will hope for a pace collapse from stall 12. He is in the form of his life after winning a Grade 2 last time.

Aesop’s Fables bounced back to form with a great effort in the Abbaye on Arc day. His trainer Aidan O’Brien thinks blinkers are the key to him and his draw does not rule him out completely.

12.00

GUNITE could upset defending champion Elite Power – as he did when they met at Saratoga two runs ago.

He is versatile both trip and tactic-wise and his work since arriving at Santa Anita has been good.

Elite Power will be happier dropping back a furlong after that last defeat and won’t be far away.

Speed Boat Beach clocked a personal best when beaten in a photo here last time and has place claims along with The Chosen Vron who won a Grade 1 at Del Mar in a good time.
