Bournemouth star ‘banished from first team’ despite relegation battle after ‘opening talks over free transfer’

BOURNEMOUTH star Jordan Zemura has reportedly been banished from the first-team after opening talks with Udinese over a free transfer.

The left-back has allegedly been sent to train with the club’s development squad and will not play again this season.

The Athletic report that the Cherries are unhappy with the 23-year-old due to him beginning discussions with Italian outfit Udinese over a potential summer move.

Zemura is out of contract at the end of the season and it appears he will not be staying on the South Coast.

He has been an important part of the Bournemouth team this season, playing 22 times in all competitions.

The Zimbabwe international was also key in the club’s promotion last term, appearing in 34 games.

However, he has not been in any of the last five matchday squads.

Bournemouth are in the midst of a relegation battle and sit 15th, three points above the drop zone.

Either January loan signing Matias Vina or Lloyd Kelly are expected to play at left-back for the remainder of the campaign.

When asked about the Zemura situation last month, manager Gary O’Neil replied: “I think Jordan has had a good time here, of course.

“My job at the moment, I don’t get involved at all in contract situations, just purely on team selection.

“As we saw, Kelly is back fit now and can play left-back. We’ve got a Uruguay international back available, Vina, who has trained well.”

Zemura has also been linked with moves to West Ham and Leeds.
