Billions of Google accounts receive a huge free upgrade that prevents bank-raiding disaster

GOOGLE account holders will soon receive an extra benefit that’s already been around on Gmail for years.

And it should protect people a little more from unscrupulous scammers attempting to empty your bank account.

The tech giant blocks a whooping 15billion unwanted messages daily from our Gmail inboxes.

Now the firm wants to use the same technology on Google Drive.

Fraudsters are increasingly turning to the cloud storage service as a way of tricking users towards damaging malware.

In a similar way to the spam folder in your email, these spam files will now be detected and put in a dedicated folder on Google Drive.

Any suspected spam can be dragged across to the spam folder.

A popup will ask for a reason why you’ve marked it as spam so Google can block further attempts that look the same, as well as the sender.

Once a file has been there for 30 days it’ll be automatically deleted as well.

The firm will start rolling out the new protection next week.

It’ll be available across iOS, Android and desktop from May 24.

Google recently announced a load of new features for its popular apps.

Last week, the firm revealed that Gmail will gain a brand new dark web danger checker button.

The company also revealed some devices, including the Pixel Fold and Pixel 7a.
