Biker caught speeding at 150mph & doing ‘wheelies’ on public roads convicted… thanks to his own footage

A LUNATIC biker caught speeding at 150mph and performing “wheelies” on public roads has been convicted… after police watched back his own dash footage.

Jack Godfrey, 24, of Kent View Road, Basildon, was stopped at the A130, Rettendon, by a Roads Policing officer after a five-mile chase on busy main roads.

The biker’s dashcam footage horrified officers as they saw him under-taking at speed and performing dangerous wheelies

Essex Police say they seized the SD card from a dashcam fitted to the bike and were horrified to see he had been under-taking at speed and performing dangerous wheelies in the path of on-coming traffic.

The rider first caught the officer’s attention because his registration could not be read as the letters were too small.

Godfrey was later ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work as part of a community order and disqualified for 12 months for dangerous driving when he appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on November 3.

He was also ordered to re-sit his test and pay £269 worth of fines and costs.

Roads Policing officer Police Constable Danny Wheeler, who led the investigation, said: “There is no doubt that this rider drove in a dangerous manner, using the public roads of Chelmsford as a racetrack with no consideration for himself and the safety of other road users.

“At one point, he nearly collided into a roundabout and the footage was so horrific that during interview, the rider admitted that even he was shocked by it and said he had been foolish.”

This comes after a chauffeur allegedly let a pal drive his multi-millionaire boss’s £380,000 Ferrari… before they crashed it.

Allen Sicurella worked for financier Richard Hanson for 17 years until the pair fell out over the 458 Speciale smash.

The private equity chief – who is reportedly worth £90million – fired Mr Sicurella then dragged him to court seeking £290,000 in damages he claimed was done to the supercar.

Meanwhile, a search is underway for a capable new thrill-seeker to steer the Bloodhound supersonic car to a world land speed record of 800mph.

But the world’s most dangerous job comes with a catch as applicants will not only need the skills to be considered for the “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”, but also a major sponsorship deal.
