BETFAIR have launched a new charity initiative that will raise hundreds of thousands for the Injured Jockeys’ Fund in both Britain and Ireland.
They have kicked off the ‘Rachael Blackmore Serial Winners Fund’, with an initial £100,000 donation – and they will top it up with an extra £5,000 every time she rides a winner between now and the Grand National.
The fund is in conjunction with the Betfair’s latest instalment of their ‘Serial Winner’ sports documentary series.
A six-minute short film was premiered at the ‘Stable Cinema’ at Haydock Park on Betfair Chase day.
It documents Blackmore’s rise through the ranks, starting from humble beginnings and going on to win the Grand National and Cheltenham Gold Cup.
Over the last five years, Blackmore has ridden an average of 30 winners a season, so it’s anticipated the pot could increase up to £250,000 come Grand National day in April.

Proceeds will be shared evenly between two charities that make a major difference to the lives of jockeys in both the UK and Ireland, the Injured Jockeys Fund and Irish Injured Jockeys.
The charities do some incredible work for jockeys and a constant support, and the shocking injury to Graham Lee highlights the importance of charities like the IJF and IIJ.
