A PETROLHEAD has revealed how an affordable body kit can make a cheap motor look nearly identical to a legendary Porsche.
What’s more, the new look won’t cost car-owners supercar prices – with the kit one of the cheapest upgrades available to give your wheels an expensive new look.

According to motoring YouTube channel Quickshift Cars, drivers can be the envy of their neighbours even if they own a retro sports car such as the Toyota MR2.
They said: “What if you could have the best of both worlds – decent performance, the affordable price and crazy supercar styling?”
Quickshift point to UK-based body kit makers Turismo UK, who can transform your motor using their 40 years of experience with bespoke supercars.
Specialists in turning ordinary cars into unique exotics using one-off kits and built-to-order projects, Turismo’s body works are stylised to resemble the iconic Gemballa Porsche Carrera GT.
The souped up motor was a Porsche V10 described as “the peak of the brand’s lineup from 2003 to 2007” – with only less than 2,000 models produced.
Gemballa, an aftermarket design and performance firm, then took 25 of these supercars and “tuned both the motor and exterior for maximum performance” – before selling them on for a cost of over $300,000 more than the original, or roughly £240,000.
Turismo’s kits takes inspiration from Carrera GT’s look while also integrating some of their own designs – perfect for those who can’t afford such a luxury whip.
Named the Avalanche, the body kit boasts extra fender vents, a pronounced hood scoop and the iconic round Porsche headlights, along with many other cool trimmings.
According to Quickshift, the base Avalanche kit costs only £4,500 and “bolts right onto the MR2 chassis without any cutting or welding” – although owners will have to source their own headlights.
Extra upgrades can be purchased to complete the look, with the full package costing just around £8,000.
It doesn’t just work for the MR2 either, as the Avalanche look can also be achieved using a Porsche Boxster based kit called the Evolution GT – built on the 986 entry-level roadster and similar in price to the Avalanche.
According to Turismo, their mission “is to build your vehicle to your exact specification” using specialists in their fields “to offer an unparalleled build and a quality end product” – with a number of different services on offer.
This comes as a car buying expert recently revealed how a Porsche Boxster can be picked up for under £5,000 – and it’s “perfect for a road trip.”
