Ben Stokes breaks record for highest individual England ODI score EVER with swashbuckling 182 vs New Zealand at the Oval

Stokes celebrated recording the record run total at The OvalRex

On his way to racking up the record score, Stokes hit his fastest ever ODI century.

Stokes’ stunning performance follows his decision to reverse his ODI retirement and return for England this series.

The batsman is determined to lead England to World Cup glory at the upcoming Cricket World Cup in India.

England are looking to retain the trophy that they dramatically won on home soil in 2019.

Stokes, who came in at fourth in the batting order helped England arrest a sluggish start.

The batsman was in a hurry to reach his century as he achieved the ton off just 76 balls.

He hit a total of 15 fours and nine sixes on his way to achieving the record 182 score.

That came off the back of facing just 124 balls.

Stokes’ brilliant performance came after England’s opener Jonny Bairstow got out for a golden duck off the very first ball of the day.

Dawid Malan fared better as he recorded 96 runs before being caught by Tom Latham off a Trent Boult ball.

But Joe Root scored just four runs before Ben Stokes came in.

England were all out for 368 after 48 overs with New Zealand now needing a mammoth 369 to win.

The four match series is currently tied at 1-1 following England’s victory at the Ageas Bowl on Sunday.

New Zealand recorded the first win of the series in Cardiff after following England’s 291 score with 297 runs.
