Ben Shephard breaks silence on claims Matt Hancock will host Good Morning Britain after quitting politics

The regular host broke his silence as odds of the former health secretary being in the hot seat hit 2/1, according to William Hill.

Speaking on Friday’s GMB, Ben said: “We know that he won’t stand in the next election.”

“There’s been pretty short odds that he’s going to be hosting Good Morning Britain in the near future.”

He added: “I’m intrigued to understand what Matt Hancock thinks is the opportunity…

“The transition from parliamentarian, from MP, from cabinet minister into a media life is not a simple transition just because he’s had a go on a reality TV show.”

Susanna Reid is typically joined by a guest presenter from Monday through to Wednesday.

Presenter Richard Madeley, former Labour MP Ed Balls and money-saving expert Martin Lewis are familiar faces alongside her.

Susanna then reunites with Ben Shephard on Thursday.

Ben then takes over on Friday alongside Kate Garraway as Susanna’s four-day week comes to an end.

Ed Balls made the jump from politics to media when he lost his seat in 2015.

He went on to star on Strictly Come Dancing, famously performing Gangnam Style.
