Bayern have been linked with Tottenham centre-back Eric Dier.
But Chalobah appears to be their primary defensive target.
According to reporter Christian Falk, Tuchel has been in dialogue with the Chelsea academy graduate attempting to talk him into making the switch.
Falk told Caught Offside: “Bayern had a bad experience when they let Benjamin Pavard go to Inter Milan without a replacement.
“They’re having problems now with getting Trevoh Chalobah.
“It’s hard for them to agree a deal, as they want a loan and Chelsea want to just sell him by including a mandatory buy-option.
“Thomas Tuchel made a call to Chalobah to persuade him to come to Munich.”
Chalobah, 24, was promoted to Chelsea’s first team squad during Tuchel’s reign as manager.

He has gone on to make 63 appearances for the Blues.
But as Todd Boehly and Co took their spending to £1bn since the American bought the club with the acquisition of Cole Palmer, the West Londoners are happy to cash in on Chalobah.
Chelsea wold prefer to sell the defender, but Bayern are chasing a loan deal.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Bundesliga champions are negotiating a temporary switch without an option to buy.
Bayern are also chasing a deal for Fulham star Joao Palhinha.
The Portuguese ace is valued at over £50million and could be allowed to leave Craven Cottage, if Marco Silva and Co can find a replacement.
Fulham are keen to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham, with the North Londoners eager to sell the out of favour Dane.
But according to the Standard, the Cottagers are struggling to convince Hojbjerg to join.
