Earlier in the campaign, they disposed of Michael Appleton following a dismal run of results.

Now they have turned their attentions to Wild, who has worked wonders with League Two Barrow.

On a minimal budget, the former Halifax Town coach has guided his team to a ninth-placed finish with a game to spare.

In his maiden season, his side just narrowly missed out on a play-off spot.

That has alerted Blackpool to his talents, although he has said how well he has settled at the club.

Wild also reserved special praise for the fans.

He told The Mail: “I have said on numerous occasions, coming from Oldham, I think Barrow is quite a similar industrial town.

“I think the people are quite similar as they are hard-working individuals and they want to come and see a team that works as hard as it can.

“I have really settled into life. I really enjoy the club, I really enjoy the fans and interacting with the fans and I think we have developed a really good relationship and that can only bode well as we move into next season.”

Pool academy head Ciaran Donnelly does not want to be their new director of football.
