Banished Wolves star ‘swung elbow at U21 ace and SPAT at coach’ as reason for exile is revealed

THE shocking reasons Wolves banished Jonny Otto have been revealed.

The full-back is accused of swinging an elbow at Molineux Under-21s midfielder Tawanda Chirewa and spitting at a coach.

The claims led to Wolves banning the ex-Spain star from senior training until at least the end of January.

Now The Athletic have disclosed the allegations against the 29-year-old.

The 2019 signing from Atletico Madrid is also said to have damaged some items in the players’ room during the flare-up.

The Athletic say Jonny clashed with Chirewa in training at Compton Park around 10 days ago after a challenge from the 20-year-old angered him.

The sports website report that the three-cap star aimed an elbow at Chirewa but missed.

However, he then allegedly spat at a member of the coaching staff who had tried to pull him away from the incident.

As things stand, Jonny appears unlikely to play for Wolves again.

Molineux sporting director Matt Hobbs said after the clash: “I’ve sat down with him, he’s apologised, and we have outlined the way forward.

“We had a conversation and have agreed that at least until the end of the January window he won’t be part of the first-team group.

“He will still be training at the club and, if he chooses, he can play for the under-21s to keep up his match sharpness, and I think, knowing him, he’ll probably do that.”

Hobbs added: “This is a guy who has been a great servant to the football club.

“One incident doesn’t define the role he’s played during the successful times and the man he is day to day around the place.

“Everybody has moments and that’s all it was, but we have to deal with it and move forward for the wider group.”
