Aston Villa starlet Aaron Ramsey’s transfer to Burnley stalling over complicated buy-back option

ASTON VILLA starlet Aaron Ramsey’s move to Burnley is stalling because he has to agree a new deal with Villa in case he goes back.

The midfielder, 20, is due to join Vincent Kompany’s club for £12million but the deal will include a complicated buy-back option.

It means Ramsey must sign off on a contract at Villa NOW in case that happens in the future.

The bizarre set-up is the idea of Villa transfer guru Monchi, and it is similar to the one which saw Burnley sign keeper James Trafford from Manchester City.

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has confirmed that he will keep tabs on Ramsey if he joins Burnley ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

During a press conference earlier this week, he said: “Young players are very important for us. And we have to make a plan for them.

“In the past, present and the future and we don’t want to stop their career.

“When we are thinking they are not going to have a lot of chances to play, to keep confident and keep minutes, another plan is to let them go and play in other teams.

“Sometimes on loan, sometimes sell. But always trying to keep the possibility of getting them again for us in the near future.

“That is the idea we have with different players. Now, Aaron is so close to leaving and the idea is to have the possibility to recover him if he progresses over the next year or for more, deserving to play and come here.”

Meanwhile, the Clarets will look abroad if they fail to land Chelsea left-back Ian Maatsen.

The Dutch defender, 21, was on loan at Burnley last season and West Ham are also keen on a temporary deal for the Blues star.
