UNDER-FIRE jockey Gina Mangan has admitted she is ‘ashamed’ at picking up another big ban – as bosses warned her: “This is your last chance.”
The female Flat rider has been banned for 35 days after breaking whip rules.

She went over the limit of six strikes three times on rides between May and June.
The entry point for her ban was 28 days but Mangan got an increased suspension.
She was previously hit with a 24-day ‘totting up’ ban in January 2022, again for multiple breaches of whip rules.
Mangan said she was ‘ashamed’ by the latest episode and has vowed to change her racing style.
She said: “I feel very ashamed.
“It’s hard to inform the trainers you ride for that you won’t be available and I feel the punishment doesn’t fit the crime.
“There’s no two ways about it, though, these are the new rules and I just haven’t gotten them yet.
“However, it’s being costly to my career and source of income. It’s quite a whack.
“It will be a sense of trying to rebuild and you know how fashionable racing is, people can forget about you pretty quickly.
“I’ll have to start again when I come back and I’d rather not sit out, but it is what it is.”
At a hearing, Sarak Crowther KC said Mangan broke whip rules on ‘about one in 13 rides.
She also said this was the jockey’s ‘last chance’ and that the next ban could be ‘significantly more severe’.
Mangan added: “Everyone wants to win, but it has to be within the guidelines.
“Since I totted up last time I have been making improvements in that period, but those bad habits have come back to haunt me.
“I ride for very nice people and I’ll be wishing them the best.
“Unfortunately it’ll be a case of watching runners and possible winners I could have been on, but you have to look forwards rather than backwards.”
