Arsenal next five fixtures compared to title-chasers Man City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Aston Villa

ARSENAL will be hoping to go edge back in front of champions Manchester City over the next five matches.

They defeated the Cityzens earlier this month 1-0 to go top, but Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Chelsea allowed the reigning champions to return to the summit.

Pep Guardiola’s side beat Brighton 2-1, which put them above the Gunners on goal difference.

However, Tottenham’s 2-0 victory over Fulham tonight saw them continue their fine start as they moved back into first place, two points ahead of last season’s top two.

Liverpool, fresh from their Merseyside derby triumph, are hot the heels and sit fourth on 20 points.

And Aston Villa are only a point behind the Reds after they thrashed West Ham 4-1 on Sunday.

With nine matches gone so far, the title race remains firmly in the balance, but everything could change over the upcoming weeks – especially for Arsenal.

Here we take a look at the next five league games for the Gunners compared to their rivals at the top:

Sheffield United (H) – October 28

The Blades have yet to taste victory since returning to the Premier League – but they have held both Manchester City and Tottenham until late on so far this season.

Newcastle (A) – November 4

While almost everyone outside of Bramall Lane will be expecting Arsenal to claim the points against Sheffield United, they know they face a much harder task to do that at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle finished in the top four last season to secure Champions League football and they will be pushing hard to achieve that feat again this term.

Burnley (H) – November 11

Another home match against a newly-promoted side will have fans expecting another three points.

And, in all honesty, Mikel Arteta knows that nothing but a win will do if his team are serious about lifting the Premier League trophy.

Brentford (A) – November 25

The Gunners have endured difficult times in the past away to their London rivals.

And, even though anything can happen in a derby, Arsenal will go there confident of getting another three points in their quest to be champions.

Wolves (H) – December 2

The fifth fixture in their next run of Prem matches will come against a potential banana skin in Wolves.

Despite their struggles so far, they did manage to come from behind to beat Man City last month.
