After scoring, he stood with his arms aloft in front of the Arsenal fans with a wry smile on his face, before kissing the badge on his shirt.

Trossard may have been surprised with the reception he received from the home fans at the Amex Stadium.

The forward came on as a second half substitute for Gabriel Jesus.

And he was roundly booed as he entered the field, with some failing to forgive him for leaving the Seagulls.

Arsenal fans couldn’t help but notice Trossard’s salute to the travelling faithful.

One wrote: “I love that Trossard celebrated.”

A second posted: “Leandro Trossard scored against his former club and said « I’m here to tell you right now, I don’t care, let’s celebrate »”

A third shared: “Trossard actually celebrated, this guyyy.”

A fourth added: “That was ice cold from Trossard.”

A fifth wrote: “Wow Trossard’s got ice in his veins.”

While a sixth opined: “Trossard booed when he comes on, scores and does the badge tap, love it.”

Mikel Arteta’s side roared to the top of the Premier League with a comfortable win over Brighton.

A Bukayo Saka penalty in the first half set the Gunners on their way.

Kai Havertz added a second with a close finish, following a cross from Jorginho.

Trossard added gloss on proceedings with four minutes left on the clock.
