Ange Postecoglou backed to be next Man Utd manager as Celtic hero snaps and says ‘why is that a dream world?’

QUESTIONS have been asked over the future of Erik Ten Haag following Manchester United’s dismal derby defeat to rivals City on Sunday.

And Chris Sutton has one answer for those questions.

“Big Ange”.

The former Celtic striker backed the Aussie boss to be a success at Spurs and he was similarly unequivocal in his backing to turn things round at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have now lost as many games since Sir Alex Ferguson retired as they did during his entire 26-year managerial reign.

But though Sutton is sure the treble-winning ex-Hoops boss is the answer IF Ten Haag was to move on, the notion was quickly shot down by podcast co-host Ian Ladyman.

He suggested it was a dreamworld move – and not for any anti-Ange or Celtic reasons.

Speaking on the All Kicking Off podcast, Sutton fired: “You ask me a question, I answer it and then you’re saying I’m in a dreamworld – why is that a dreamworld?”

And the journalist explained himself.

He said: “We know how difficult it is for Man Utd to deal with Tottenham over players, nevermind the best manager they’ve had for almost 10 years.

“Daniel Levy regretted selling Kyle Walker to Man City to such a degree he said he’d never let a player go to a Manchester club again.

“So I don’t think they have a chance of nicking their manager.”

Spurs fans were doubtful of the Aussie when rumours surfaced at the end of last season – even leading to a #NotoPostecoglou social media campaign.

But he has proven those doubters wrong by leading Spurs to the top of the table and an early title bid.

And Sutton blasted: “We don’t know the ins and outs of Postecoglou’s deal at Spurs.

Has that perception of Big Ange coming down from Celtic – big club that it is in the Scottish league – changed?

“When he first went in at Tottenham, and he was first put forward there was this campaign #PostecoglouOut.

“Where are these people now?”

And he added: “Who am I allowed to say? Simeone? Is that not what they need? A culture change? Someone to go in and shake the club up and get the players playing and running?”

“Manchester United have tried everything really, Ten Hag must be into ten games to save his job territory.”
