FACEBOOK users are fuming as an essential button has mysteriously stopped working on the social network.
The problem kicks in on a number of smartphones and no-one seems to know why.

It seems like the culprit may be a recent software update that’s gone wrong.
Numerous reports from frustrated Android users have emerged online venting about the issue.
The button in question is the back button on the Facebook app.
Previously, people could easily tap the button at the bottom and return to the last screen they were on.
Instead, users now have no option but to scroll to the top and tap an alternative back button.
While most may think it’s a minor inconvenience, it’s been enough of an annoyance to drive quite a few people to grumble on Reddit and X.
And there doesn’t appear to be a solution in sight three days after complaints first emerged.
“Tried to use FB this morning, and if I go to, say a post or photo, if I click the back button, it does nothing!” one person wrote.
“I have to click the back on the top left of the app, which I’ve never had to use before, and it’s so annoying.”
Another said: “Please sort out the damn back button it’s driving me nuts!”
A third complained: “WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO THE BACK BUTTON?!”
Users are waiting for a software update that will hopefully resolve the problem soon.
