MILLIONS of Android phones have a special feature that can instantly boost your battery life.
The feature stops so-called “vampire” apps that silently drain your phone’s battery life in the background.

If you’ve had an Android phone for a while, it’s likely that you’ve collected a large number of apps.
Some of these apps will put strain on your smartphone’s battery.
And if they’re apps that you don’t use regularly or get much value from, they may be worth deleting.
But before you do that, consider trying the Restrict function instead.
Google has designed Android to allow you to restrict apps.
You can restrict apps with high background battery use, or even those that generally suck up a lot of power.
By doing this, you can keep the app on your phone and enjoy it when you need it.
But you’ll prevent these apps from excessively draining your phone’s battery life in the background.
How to Restrict an app’s battery use on Android
First, you’ll want to go into the Settings app on your phone.
Now tap on Battery.
If there are any apps with high background battery use, you’ll see a card that advises you to restrict it.
Simply tap the card and then choose Restrict.
Of course it’s also possible to restrict apps that have a high overall battery use.
Go into Settings > Battery > Battery Usage.
You’ll be able to see a list of the apps that have use battery in the last week.
Tap on an app with high usage and Restrict it.
Google also recommends having Battery Optimisation switched on for all apps.
You can also check general battery usage settings for your apps by going into Settings > Apps > App Battery Usage.
Note that if you set an app to Restricted, it might not work entirely normally.
You may also find that notifications are delayed, especially if it’s from an app that heavily depends on background usage – like an email service.
