Famed Mexican actress and Disney voice actor Ana Ofelia Murguía has died at the age of 90.
Murguía’s death was confirmed by Mexico’s National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature on X, who said her “artistic career was vital for the performing arts of Mexico”.
“We send condolences and warm hugs to her family and friends,” a translation of the tweet read.

A cause of death is unknown. She reportedly died on Sunday.
According to the New York Times, Murguía’s career was described in a statement as one that “marked an entire era” by the director of the National Institute of Fine Arts.

Murguía was born in Mexico City in 1933.
She forged a successful acting career and starred in films including 1995’s Nobody Will Speak of Us When We’re Dead and 1994’s The Queen of the Night.
In 2011, she won a lifetime achievement Golden Ariel award for her contribution to Mexican cinema.
More recently, she voiced the character Mamá Coco in Disney’s Pixar Animation Studios film, Coco.
Coco was released back in 2017 and had huge success at the box office, grossing $US814 million worldwide.
The fantasy and adventure film centred on the young character Miguel who dreams of becoming a musician while learning about his family history and heritage.
