Amanda Seyfried, Meg Stalter, and Ariana DeBose Set to Star in “My Ex-Friend’s Wedding”

Grab the popcorn and get ready to laugh with some of the funniest women in Hollywood. On March 3, Variety announced a new project from Sony Pictures, entitled “My Ex-Friend’s Wedding.” Cowritten by Taylor Jenkins Reid, author of works like “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” and “Daisy Jones & the Six,” the upcoming film is described as a comedy following the adventures of four childhood friends played by Ariana DeBose, “Saturday Night Livecast member Chloe Fineman, Amanda Seyfried, and comedian Megan Stalter.

The story kicks off when a former friend calls the group the day before her wedding, saying she might be making a big mistake. Together, the four embark on an adventure in order to stop the nuptials and try to rebuild their relationship with their ex-BFF. The film will be led by Kay Cannon, known for her work with “Blockers,” “Cinderella,” and “Pitch Perfect.”

“When @kaycannon calls, you say ‘YES!'” DeBose wrote on her Instagram after sharing the news. “Looking forward to this one with these Queens,” she continued, adding that she’s a big fan of Reid’s “Evelyn Hugo” novel herself. Stalter also voiced her excitement about the cast on social media, summing up her love for her costars with a simple, “I luv girls.”

Although more details have yet to be revealed, Joe Matukewicz, Sony Pictures head of worldwide acquisitions, promised good things are in store. “We spit out our tea at the hilarious and heartfelt script for ‘My Ex-Friend’s Wedding’ and Kay’s vision for it had us wanting to pick up the phone to call all our ex-friends,” he said.
