Alan Shearer reveals pregnant wife was brought to tears by major transfer and fumed ‘what the f*** have you done?’

ALAN SHEARER has revealed his wife Lainya was brought to tears as they first drove through Blackburn.

The striker joined Rovers from Southampton in 1992 for a then-English-record £3.6million.

Shearer and Lainya had tied the knot the previous year.

Lainya, who was pregnant with Shearer’s eldest child Chloe at the time, wasn’t best pleased with her man’s Blackburn move.

During the latest episode of The Rest of Football podcast, Shearer was asked about what culture he took in during his time at Blackburn.

Grinning, the 53-year-old said of his wife’s reaction to the town: “When she was eight months pregnant and looked at me in the car and said, ‘What the f*** have you done?’”

This prompted laughter from host Gary Lineker and fellow pundit Micah Richards.

Lineker enjoyed an exotic career that saw him play in Spain and Japan.

While Richards, who spent most of his playing days in England with Manchester City and Aston Villa, did have a loan spell in Italy with Fiorentina.

Answering the same question as Shearer, Richards beamed as he replied: “I mean what do they mean by culture? I took in the drinking culture!”

He then added more seriously: “Florence taught me how to live a little bit.”

Shearer then butted in: “Really? In what way!?”

Lineker recounted his days frequently going to the opera in Barcelona, even sitting behind Princess Diana at a concert.

The Match of the Day host admitted that his wife at the time Michelle had been a lot more into the opera than him, although he did get chummy with the late soprano legend Montserrat Caballe.
