According to TTG Media, the flag carrier is set to launch flights from London Stansted and Manchester Airport to Amman in Jordan from next year.
Flights from the UK to the Jordanian capital will depart from both airports in March 2024.
Two weekly flights will depart from Manchester Airport to Jordan, while London Stanstead will see four weekly flights to Amman, with a flight time of 5 hours.
Royal Jordanian’s existing flights from London Heathrow will operate as normal.
Set in the north of the country, Amman is the main entry point for holidaymakers entering the country.
The destination has yet to become as popular as other more well-known tourist spots in the Middle East like Dubai, Istanbul, and Egypt.
The weather in Amman is fairly mild throughout the year, but holidaymakers can expect highs of 35C in the summer months.
In addition to the new flights to Jordan, there are plenty of other reasons to visit, including Petra.
Petra is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and a bucket list site for most holidaymakers.
The ancient site was carved from sandstone cliffs more than 2,000 years ago, and it is now a protected archaeological site
While most holidaymakers think of Petra as Jordan’s only draw, there’s more to do in the country’s capital.
Other ancient sites include the Al-Siq, which is a narrow-gauge, and the entrance to the famous site.
The city of Amman is also adorned with murals and colourful graffiti as well as hip-hop artists and bustling cafes.
Despite the ongoing conflict between Gaza and Israel, which borders Jordan, destinations such as Amman remain safe for travel.
Travel is only advised against along a 3km stretch of Jordan’s border with Syria, according to the UK Government website.
Royal Jordanian isn’t the only airline opening new routes from the UK to holiday destinations across the globe.
British Airways will be resuming flights from London Stansted for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The flag carrier has confirmed that three new routes will depart from the London airport, with prices starting at £36 for a one-way ticket.
Budget airline Ryanair is launching flights to Spain, Portugal, and Malta, from Norwich Airport.
As it stands, the airport only serves a handful of foreign destinations, which means the Ryanair expansion is great news for holidaymakers in East Anglia.
The flights will run on both Mondays and Fridays, according to the aviation website Simple Flying.
Ryanair is also launching flights from Cornwall Airport and Cardiff Airport, with new routes to Paris and Faro among some of those announced.
