Adam Sandler says his daughters ‘still don’t talk’ to him after casting them in his movies

He might be a Hollywood star, but Adam Sandler‘s daughters still treat their famous father in typical teenager fashion.

Speaking to reporters at his film Spaceman premiere, Sandler revealed his daughters Sadie, 17, and Sunny, 15, “still don’t talk” to him – even after he cast them in his films.

“They still don’t talk to you. They go do their thing,” he jokingly told reporters per People at the Los Angeles movie premiere after being asked about starring with them.

“They do the best they can, and then they go do their life. I am on the side going, ‘Love you.’ I say I love you a lot to them,” he added.

Sandler attended the premiere of his recent film Spaceman at the Egyptian Theater with his wife Jackie Sandler and their two daughters.

The comedy star’s youngest daughter Sunny even has a role in the film as ‘Anna’, while her father plays the protagonist Czech astronaut, Jakub Procházka.

The film, which was released on February 23, also stars Carey Mulligan and Paul Dano.

This is the latest project Sandler has worked alongside his daughters in after they most recently starred in the Netflix comedy You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah.

The movie’s director Sammi Cohen defended Sandler casting his daughters in the film, telling The Hollywood Reporter that while he is known to cast his friends, he’s still making movies with his friends, but they’re his kids.”

“He is the kind of dad who’s also your best friend,” she added.

In the same year, the star’s teenage daughters also scored voice acting roles alongside their parents in the animated film Leo.

But his recent dig about being iced out by the teens isn’t the first time he has jokingly taken a jag at his daughters in public.

While accepting the Performer Tribute Award at the 2022 Gotham Awards, Sandler made sure to bring up how his daughters had asked to write his speech for the honour.

“I said, ‘Absolutely! It would be nice to see you doing something other than watching YouTube or going to f–king Lululemon every f–king weekend,'” he joked to the crowd.

The Grown Ups actor then shared the speech his daughters wrote for him in the voice of his Waterboy character, as per their request he accepts it “in that goofy Southern accent that you do all your dumb speeches in.”
