Holt has been at the helm of Accrington Stanley since 2015 as majority shareholder, but has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to let fans know his time is done.
In a spectacularly bizarre rant he posted a series of tweets that explained the current state of the club and why he has decided to put it up for sale.
He wrote: “So now Accrington Stanley is up for sale. I won’t let the club fail, but I’m done.”
And fans were full of questions for the boss who wasn’t shy to let his opinions be heard on the social media platform.
One supporter asked about about the reasons behind Accrington Stanley’s relegation to League Two last season after a five year stint in League One.
And Holt was quick to blame both himself and long-serving manager John Coleman for failing to keep the side in English football’s third tier.
He wrote: “They failed [the management]. In football getting relegated threatens a club.
“Last season was about p*** poor decisions and management. Including my decisions.”

Accrington finished second bottom of the pile last term earning 44 points from their 46 league games.
Coleman and his assistant Jimmy Bell are unsure on their future at the club after Bell recently spoke to BBC Radio Lancashire stating that the pair want to remain at Wham Stadium next season despite their contracts expiring in the summer.
While Holt openly criticised their decision to go to the media claiming they had ulterior motives.
He said: “They went to BBC Lancashire Sport for one or both of these reasons. To use pressure from fans to coerce me into giving new or extended contracts. To flag out publicly they’re available to other clubs.”
But ultimately Holt has decided that it’s him that will be leaving the club instead of the management duo, despite his public rant.
He posted: “’I’m not replacing them. I’m replacing me.”
